Learn of the origins of motor racing in Bathurst since 1914 from the first Australian Grand Prix and the Vale circuit, through to present day supercar and GT car racing.

Proximity to the race circuit makes the museum an educational experience for any high school and primary level school excursion.

The National Motor Racing Museum celebrates the history, personalities and achievements of Australian motor sports.

While Mount Panorama and the Bathurst 1000 is at the heart of our displays, we look across the full spectrum of Australian motor racing, telling the history of speedway, drag racing, rallying, open wheeler, sports car, touring car and motorcycle racing.

MINIS ON THE MOUNT

Join Brad Owen, Coordinator of the National Motor Racing Museum, on a lap of the Mount in the museum’s replica 1966 Mini Cooper S and learn about how Minis dominated the 1966 race.

Monaros on the Mount

Take a closer look at the HK Monaro GTS 327, winner of the 1968 Bathurst 500 race, with National Motor Racing Museum Coordinator, Brad Owen while you take a lap in the museum’s replica.

 

Museums Bathurst is a suite of public museums managed by Bathurst Regional Council, located on Wiradjuri Country.
